MKS x NYC
a week of inspiration, editor meetings & showroom visits
Last week was a whirlwind of business-forward ventures. Let me start by saying, there is nothing like walking through the streets of NYC in the fall. From the autumn leaves to the crisp air and palette of the city, it felt rejuvenating to say the least! Let’s start with what we did for pleasure: stopped in the new Toteme store, swooned at Khaite, visited the infamous Polo bar (bucket list item), and met new vendors at the chicest showrooms. For business, we started the trip in DC and visited our new Maryland Nancy Meyers-esque project! Then we took PR meetings for 2 days and cultivated vital relationships with editors, publishers, etc. that mean a lot for MKS. Here are some of my New York must-do’s:
I visit the The Metropolitan Museum of Art every time I go to New York. It brings such inspiration and an astonishment for historical artifacts. Cervos always“serves” more than just an amazing meal. Cafe Leon Dore features greek pastries and pantry goods. Located inside Roman and Williams Guild in Soho, La Mercerie by Chef Marie-Aude Rose celebrates the delights of French cuisine. Tartine for baked goods. We stayed at the Nine Orchard in NYC for the first time and loved their hospitality and internal restaurant options.
Maryland was an absolute dream. We’re calling this one our Storybook project and I’m sure you can see why. The bones are beautiful but it’s currently lacking cohesion and identity. I cannot wait for the exterior charm to match the interior again!
We stayed at Hays Adams in DC (it is so charming and sits across the street from The White House). I also had the best sushi of my entire life at Shōto. An iconic moment of the trip was taking the train from Penn Station in Washington to Grand Central Station in New York!
