GROUNDED AND GROWING
March gave us our first hint of spring and felt deeply aligned with how we approach design at MKS: rooted in nature, guided by intuition, and always in conversation with the environment around us.

We began the month in Laguna Beach for our second annual team retreat. A pause, in every sense. Time to step away from the day-to-day and return to the essence of what we do—creating spaces that feel grounded, intentional, and alive. 8 women, 5 of which have worked with me for over 4 years. There’s something about the ocean, the light, the pace that invites clarity. We left feeling not only inspired, but re-centered in our vision as a studio.

Mid-month marked a milestone I’ve been quietly dreaming of for years: we signed a winery and full-scale vineyard. Even now, it feels surreal to say. A landscape defined by seasonality, texture, and a deep connection to the land, it embodies our sense of place and everything we believe design should respond to. At MKS, our philosophy has always been to let nature lead—to create spaces that feel as though they belong exactly where they are. This project feels like a natural extension of that ethos, and a defining moment in where we’re headed. Say hello to MKS Hospitality.
The third week took us to Maryland for the install of our storybook project—one of those rare homes where the original details feel both intentional and effortless. We designed the 1930s cottage to bring it back to life, layering in warmth, subtle contrast, and a sense of quiet romance. Seeing it styled and photographed was a reminder that the most compelling interiors aren’t just seen—they’re felt. They invite you in, hold you there, and tell a story without ever needing to say too much.

We closed the month in San Diego, on the sidelines of my daughter’s soccer tournament—a shift in pace that felt both grounding and necessary. A quiet reminder that inspiration doesn’t always come from movement, but from presence! Grounding and necessary.
And as you’re reading this, we’re presenting in Salt Lake City. More to come soon…

March carried a sense of depth—creatively, emotionally, and within the studio. And as we move into April, we’re stepping straight into another install, press, and continuing to shape spaces that feel connected, intuitive, and enduring. Peek at our studio in print!
